Mick Ebeling

Founder of Not Impossible Labs

Mick Ebeling is the founder of Not Impossible Labs, an online platform that connects people from various professions to create low-cost, open-source, DIY devices to help people in need.

Mick firmly believes that ideas that once seemed impossible are always possible when the right people are connected and empowered. His first project was an ocular recognition device that helped a fully paralyzed artist create art again using only his eyes. By connecting and coordinating an international group of hardware and software hackers, Mick and his team were able to create The Eyewriter.

Seeing the momentum stemming from the invention of The Eyewriter, Mick decided to open the collaborative movement to a much larger community.  On March 18, 2013, Not Impossible Labs was launched at Maker Faire in San Francisco.  Since launch, the volunteer community of makers, engineers, hackers, and producers continues to grow, and several new devices are already being created.

The Eyewriter was named one of Time Magazine’s “Top 50 Inventions of 2010” and Gizmodo’s “8 Incredible Health Inventions to Transform Lives,” and it is now a part of the permanent collection at the NY MOMA.  It was also the subject of Mick's 2011 TED Talk and the reason for him being named a USA Network Top 10 Cultural Trailblazer.

Mick Ebeling is also the founder of The Ebeling Group (TEG), an award-winning international production company and creative think-tank.  He lives in Venice Beach with his wife and three future NBA starters for the 2021, 2024 and 2027 seasons, respectively.
